Esteban Gomez-Barrantes has been charged with invasion of privacy and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to authorities, Gomez-Barrantes placed his cell phone under some laundry in the bathroom on June 3. The phone was recording video and had an unobstructed view the bathroom.
Gomez-Barrantes' stepdaughter noticed the phone and the family contacted police. He was arrested following an investigation by the prosecutor's Special Victims Unit and New Providence police.
A date for an initial hearing had not yet been scheduled.
